I am a South Manchester based artist creating lively and contemporary artwork. I work primarily in collage as I enjoy the process of layering paper to create and develop colour, texture and detail; you will often find me covered in glue surrounded by tiny bits of paper! I regularly visit charity shops to search out old books, maps and dressmakers patterns to use within my drawings.
I explore places within my work because I feel motivated to capture the mood and atmosphere I feel when I am there. I began to focus on Manchester when I came to study
for a degree in Textiles at Manchester School of Art, and 15 years on it still
continues to be my biggest source of inspiration. I love observing it’s
constant evolution; the mix of old and new architecture; and the details of signage,
graffiti, transport and people. However, I am also inspired by the coast,
countryside and nature. I love visiting places that contrast my urban surroundings,
to escape the bustle and appreciate the atmosphere of a calmer and more natural
I began exhibiting and selling my work whilst studying for my degree, and after a successful career as a Teacher of Art spanning over 11 years I now focus full time on my arts practice (and my children!)
I am available for exhibitions, and private or commercial commissions.
